FAQ

Blin stopped fixing words. What should I check?

Look at the icon next to the layout in the menu bar:

Terminals are excluded out of the box, and in code editors words are not fixed on Return and Tab — only on Space and punctuation.

Why is a word sometimes not fixed, or fixed wrongly?

Blin doesn’t see the text on screen — it counts the keys you press. If an app changes the text while you type (autocomplete, auto-replace), the count can drift. Blin then tries to leave the word alone, and a wrong fix can be undone with a double Shift. Details are in the guide.

Why does Blin need the Accessibility permission?

To see the keys you press, erase a word typed in the wrong layout and type it again, and to read the selected text. On macOS all of this requires the Accessibility permission. Blin doesn’t ask for Input Monitoring separately.

Does Blin store or send what I type?

No. What you type never leaves your Mac, and Blin doesn’t write it to its logs. Words you asked Blin not to fix are stored only as irreversible fingerprints. Blin goes online only to check for updates and for licensing. More in the privacy policy.

Which keyboard layouts are supported?

Blin 1.0 is built for the English ⇄ Russian pair. Other Latin layouts (French AZERTY, for example) haven’t been tested yet, and we don’t promise them.

What language is the app in?

English and Russian.

What happens after the trial if I don’t buy?

Automatic fixing turns off. Converting a word or a selection with a double Shift or ⌥⇧Space keeps working.

What happens if I don’t renew?

Versions released before the end of your paid year stay yours forever. Blin won’t offer updates released after that. If you install a newer version manually, automatic fixing is off in it, and Blin offers to renew or to download the latest version your licence covers.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Via the link in your Paddle receipt email or at paddle.net. More on the Pricing page.

How do I get a refund?

Within 14 days of a purchase or a renewal. The terms are in the refund policy.

How do I move my licence to another Mac?

A licence works on three Macs. Deactivate the old Mac in Blin’s licence window — from any of your Macs, even if the old one is lost.

How is Blin different from Punto Switcher and Caramba Switcher?

They have free versions, while Blin is paid, has no telemetry and goes online only for updates and licensing; don’t run them alongside Blin — Blin warns you if it sees one running.
